International Workshop
Interlinking sustainability science in a Global North-South dialogue
July 15-19, 2024
IDOS (German Institute of Development and Sustainability), Tulpenfeld 6, 53113 Bonn
Sustainability science (Nachhaltigkeitsforschung) aims to provide solutions to the current complex socio-ecological problems by working beyond ‘modern’ disciplinary boundaries. However, it focuses mainly on the Global North. In this workshop, we elaborate on the question how sustainability science is conceptualized in countries of the ‘Global South’ and how to strengthen the interdisciplinary field of sustainability science on a global scale.
We discuss with researchers and practitioners from Bolivia, Germany, Ghana and Indonesia how ‘sustainability’ and ‘sustainability science’ (or similar fields) are seen, conceptualized and organized in their respective institutional contexts.
The number of places for the entire workshop is limited, which is why participation is by invitation only. However, if you are very interested, please get in touch.
As part of the workshop, there will be a round table “Sustainability science in a Global North-South dialogue” on July 18, 3:30 to 6 pm.
You are welcome to register by July 8 (name, institution, field of study).
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
