Initiatives
We support initiatives that jointly advance relevant topics for Bonn's science scape. This includes, for example, collegial scientific exchange, thematic cooperation platforms and working groups that bring together or harness expertise across institutions.
These initiatives have resulted in projects or have become part of projects, each of which is, however, limited in time. It is also important to secure knowledge and exchange through networking between project phases.
Alternative/Critical/Plural Sustainabilities
The "Alternative Sustainabilities" working group brings together researchers and practitioners working in the field of sustainability and sustainable development (in the broadest sense). The working group is explicitly open to diverse interdisciplinary cooperation between people from all sectors and (research) institutions. The aim of the working group is to identify, bring together and analyze so-called "alternative" practices, approaches, concepts and understandings, strategies and initiatives of sustainability
- Working group at the German Committee (DKN) in Future Earth "Alternative sustainability. Between local contexts and global dimensions"
- Sustainabilities beyond Disciplines. A critical study book (working title). Collaborative textbook project between Bonn WG and the University of St Andrews; lighthouse project in the Bonn Program for Sustainable Transformation (BOOST) at the University of Bonn.
- Involvement in the establishment of the St Andrews Center for Critical Sustainabilities (StACCS).
Bonn Platform for Forced Migration Studies
Bonn is home to many experts working in the field of (forced) migration - in associations, international organizations, think tanks and universities. We pool this expertise in various active formats and expand it together, particularly in the area of transdisciplinarity. "Lessons learned" are to be shared in the participants' home institutions beyond this area of work. To this end, we aim to establish a cooperation platform in the medium term.
